I’m heading off to Las Vegas tomorrow to place the car for the SEMA show, November 5-8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. More pictures will follow, but here are a few prior to the show…just in case…
The new paint is Mazda Liquid Silver Metallic with Signal Orange accents.
It looks badass Cord. I really like the diffuser. I noticed you don’t have the headlight covers on yet. Are those a work in progress? The body lines and paint make it look like a sexy work of art. All it’s needs now is a turbo.
Thanks Grant. I think a turbo is in my future. The headlight cover molds were finished and tested. These were blow-type molds that force the polycarbonate into shape with suction. The problem was that we had too much mark-off. The molds were sent to a company for tweaking, and I’m confident they’ll be finished soon.
The diffuser does look awesome in person. I thought about accenting it with Signal Orange to make it more viewable, but thought that might be too much bling…probably not for SEMA, but too much for me.
Hi Cord, if you’re looking for a reliable turbo solution it might be worth looking at a BBR set up they’ll give you 220bhp from a 1.6 engine with compromising on reliability… then your cat fish will be a reliable rocket ( http://www.bbrgti.com/product_details.php?id=11646&category=7 )
P.s the sema car looks great but might i suggest a couple of 30mm spacers on the back wheels to fill out the body a bit?
One of my favorite things about this car is the miata drivetrain. This thing will be bulletproof. yet weights under 1600lbs? It’s not your average (kit car). You should be able to rack up the miles on it worry free. I for one want a car I can enjoy in the end and something that is not full of headaches.
A couple more questions when you have time:
What is the height of the area you enter the car (where the door would be)?
Do you have figures for the amount of time it would take an average at home builder to complete?
Congratulations on amazing car. Lots of people have tried to come up with their own design only to fail in the end. It’s nice to see things coming together.
Thanks again Grant. I haven’t measured the step over for the door….gotta put that on my list. It’s easy to swing a leg over to get in, or simply sit on the side and slide in. We’re going to build one after SEMA, and will be taking pictures of the build for assembly manual purposes. My guess is that is that it should be a 100-125 hour build, although we’ll have a more realistic number after we’ve done a production car from start to finish.
Wow the car looks amazing and yeah the diffuser looks great. I know you and your small team put tons of man hrs into developing this car from a sketch. Keep up the great work!!!
