Slow and Fast

Here are a couple short videos.  The first was taken during  our night session at Streets of Willow, just prior to the 25th Anniversary of the Miata at Laguna Seca.  The other was taken just this past Sunday, which was a beautiful day for an open-car drive.  My 9 year old son and I were enjoying the new windshield while the MegaSquirt ECU software was self-tuning the car.  Since the car would tune better and faster under a load, I decided that a nice drive up Ortega Highway would be a fun way to drive and tune at the same time.  A crash mid-way up the hill had stopped traffic, so the video is from right after turning around.

Short note–the MSPNP2 and Tuner Studio software is awesome.  It’s extremely easy to use and has allowed me to swap from a 1.6 to a 1.8 engine with different injectors, and start driving right away.  The original 1.6 tune got us going, and the “Auto Analyze” self-tuning portion of the MegaSquirt software took care of the rest.  It’s still not perfect, so I guess more Sunday drives in the mountains will be required.
