It was a pretty straightforward installation of the Wilwood brakes and rotors today. One thing I found out about the weight claims I’ve heard–they were wrong. I’d heard that I could expect a four pound total weight drop. It turns out that the Big Brake Kit rotor alone is four pounds lighter. Add that to the six pound caliper savings and we’re talking double digit weight loss per corner! That is really good news, as the first best type of weight to lose is rotating mass. The next best is unsprung weight. We’ve got both.

Will we see any teasers of the car before SEMA? How long will it be before you guys are offering the windshield option?
Grant–the subscribers to the website have already seen pictures of the car being built today, and more teasers will be sent out prior to the show. Like last year, we’ll probably show the car on the trailer as we go out the Las Vegas.
The windshield is a big question for a lot of people. We were going to make our own custom windshield, but the Miata fits beautifully and is just too damn easy to make. It will be offered and available in 2014.
